SEIU Member Forum: Answering Your Questions about the COVID-19 Vaccine

SEIU will host two national forums for members to get their questions answered about the vaccines, one for English speaking members on Friday, January 15 and one for Spanish speaking members on Friday, January 22. Both will begin at 3pm PST. These 75 minutes sessions will feature a pre-recorded COVID-19 vaccine roundtable video featuring members from across the union asking questions about vaccine development, efficacy and safety in a conversation with Dr. Alicia Fernandez, a Professor of Medicine at UCSF and a general internist at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. The English video was moderated by EVP Leslie Frane and the Spanish video was moderated by EVP Rocio Saenz. The showings will be followed by a live moderated Q and A.

Washington state will move to the next phase of coronavirus vaccination in the ‘coming days’

Per The Seattle Times, the Washington state Department of Health will move into its next phase of coronavirus vaccination sooner than expected, moving up the timeline to begin inoculating people aged 70 years and older, among others. Health Secretary Dr. Umair Shah acknowledged the state’s rollout had been uneven. Health officials implored health care workers and first responders to ensure they make vaccine appointments as soon as possible to ensure they are able to receive vaccine before access is expanded to the some seniors.

The Department of Health created a visual timeline shows phase 1a and phase 1b and the estimated dates for each. Find updated information at CovidVaccineWA.org.

What has your vaccination experience been like? Do you have ideas about how to make the vaccine rollout more effective in your workplace? If you have encountered issues getting the vaccine, talk with your delegate or organizer!
